Diversity at All Levels of Shaw

Through corporate sponsorships, partnerships, conferences, community activities and memberships in professional organizations, Shaw works to promote diversity in the industries we serve. Shaw actively supports some of the largest diversity-oriented professional organizations, including the Society of Women Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the National Society of Black Engineers.

Because education is highly valued at Shaw, our initiatives include providing diversity-related scholarships to higher-education institutions. In addition, Shaw was recognized in G.I. Jobs magazine’s annual list of Top 100 Military-Friendly Employers for offering long-term career opportunities, training and advancement.

For five consecutive years, Shaw has hosted the annual “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day,” an interactive and dynamic learning experience for young females nationwide. In 2010 alone, more than 200 U.S. high school students participated in activities designed to foster an appreciation for engineering and to position the field as a viable career that can save lives and resources, protect the Earth and create new energy technologies.
